Admiralty Walk Pier, Port of Dover
Originally constructed during the Victorian period in the heyday of train and cruise travel the Grade II listed walkway connected the luxury hotel at the Cruise Terminal to the Cruise Pier. Lack of use and maintenance has seen the Walkway fall into a state of disrepair with the most significant defect being the failure of the masonry supporting the lintel beam, within the entrance building, at the start of the walkway.
Free4m were commissioned to investigate the nature of the masonry used in the entrance building and design the temporary support solution and the permanent repair works. Free4m sourced, specified and obtained handmade imperial masonry units for the permanent repair, obtained English Heritage approval and supervised installation of the temporary support works pending permanent repair.
